The Cry of the Human Spirit
I can remember that day, powerless; I was but a young child, struggling, looking up at the life size crucifix (very much like the one that is behind me this very day), in a church that stands no more. I spoke aloud, from my mouth to Your ear. I may evoke Your memory now, I said, "I don't know how to get there but I want to go to heaven."
I can now apprehend that childlike faith, which You placed within me that very hour, was planned from eternity past, to call out to Thee, as to You being available and yet hidden in a cloud of unknowing.
It was then, that You planted within my human spirit, a seed of wonderment. I can now see, how I was thought of by Thee. I walked up to the celebration of the Eucharist yesterday morning and Your wonder was present. I could not stand in Your presence without emotion. I felt Your holy presence, the presence of Your hand, Your glory. My heart was full of Your holy awe. I recall it so. My spirit trembled in reverence, for I could not hold Your cup.
For a moment in time, I was in the presence of Your feet, nailed. I drank from the cup of eternal life and was filled with Your blood. The stream of living water washed down inside me. My spirit was glad and refreshed.
O, Holy God, I can now see that You spoke to my human spirit that day when I was but a child. At that moment You placed within me a hungry heart for Thee, a thirsty heart for Thee. Thank you Blessed Divine Trinity.
